Every way in we know of for 2027, most actionable first. Times are shown in local time at the event (Asia/Tokyo) and in yours.
Lottery / ballot
Applications were drawn by lottery because demand exceeded capacity. Selected runners pay between 18 and 30 September 2026. The general route also covers disability, wheelchair and duo-team divisions.
Club / member allocation
Early route for paid members of the official running club, with a lottery if oversubscribed. Payment ran 1–11 September 2026. The membership fee and field size come from a media guide only.
Qualifying time
Entry by qualifying time, which varies by gender and location. Payment ran 1–11 September 2026.
Official transfer
The guidelines say entries may be deferred to 2028 or 2029, and there is a one-time pregnancy or childbirth deferral with documents. Refunds depend on the cancellation date and reason.
Charity place
Minimum donation depends on the chosen charity. About 5,000 places are allocated. A separate donation-only window closed on 31 August 2026.
